This is a wonderful photograph in time. it shows some of my family relations having a picnic. I'm pretty sure that they are on Ankerdine Hill, Knightwick, either on the Knob, or perhaps the fields just below.
They are from left to right George Ireland, Mabel Grubham, Mary Elizabeth Davies, Doris Eliza Jones, Reginald Lloyd Jones, Emma (Baker) Ireland, and Philip Rowland Jones.
I'm guessing that Doris, Reg and Roly's brother Francis Cuthbert Jones (my Uncle Frank) took the photograph.
Mary Davies married a Doman and after that became a Jones when she married my Grandfather (John William Jones). Mary went out with his son Frank Jones probably before she became a Doman.
Doris is my mother and Reg and Roly (her brothers) are my uncles.
Mabel Grubham was my mum's first cousin and therefore my first cousin once removed.
George Ireland and Emma L. (Baker) Ireland were Mabel Grubham's uncle and aunty. Emma was the sister to Mabel Grubham's mother Alice Mary (Baker) Grubham. |
