MEMORIES

All of you here today will have our own memories of Michael, some which
are personal to you, some which you all might know, but what you will all
know is that Michael was a fairly private man, not always sharing all that was
going on in his life with those around him.

Michael was brought up on Bringsty Common with the rest of his family, when
old enough he went off to Wolverhampton to train as a welder, he gained his
qualification but he didn't really like living in a city so he moved back home to
Bringsty Common and began working there as a mechanic, working with cars
and tractors. He also turned his hand to being a gardener, did some bail
hauling and was generally an odd job man, he really was a jack of all trades.

Michael always had time for anyone wanting to talk horse racing, even if it
was stood in the middle of the road. Studying the form, following the
bloodlines and a gamble mean Michael was a very knowledgeable man with a
terrific memory, especially where horse racing was concerned.

Always a very well presented man, Michael never suffered fools gladly, a
straight faced man free with his words and having more affection with
animals, especially the dogs in his life.

He loved the outdoors and going for walks out in the countryside and also he
loved living in routine. Always a man who enjoyed life to a great degree but
was very accepting of life and what it is.

Michael touched all of our lives in different ways, understanding the man he
was, he would leave you with these three words.
Life. Goes. On.

Rest In Peace Michael.

Poem - One at Rest (Unknown)

Think of me as one at rest
for me you should not weep ..
I have no pain, no troubled thoughts
for I am just asleep.

The living thinking me that was
is now forever still ..
And life goes on without me
as time forever will.

If your heart is heavy now
because I've gone away ..
Dwell not long upon it, friend
for none of us can stay.

Those of you who liked me
I sincerely thank you all ..
And those of you who loved me
I thank you most of all.

The answer to life's riddle
in life I never knew ..
I go with hope that now I will
and even so will you.

Oh, foolish, foolish me that was
I who was so small ..
To have wondered, even worried
at the mystery of it all.

And in my fleeting lifespan
as time went rushing by ..
I found some time to hesitate
to laugh, to love, to cry.

Matters it now if time began
if time will ever cease? ..
I was here, I used it all
and now I am at peace.
