Coventry Evening Telegraph  - 1st September, 1917.

The death is announced of lieutenant F. H. J. Greswolde Williams, of the King's African Rifles, who has been killed in East Africa at the age of 18. He was the only son of Mr. F. W. G. Greswolde Williams, of Bredenbury Court, Worcester, and the heir to big estates in Birmingham, Warwickshire. Worcestershire. Herefordshire, and East Africa. His father has for several years possessed a large estate in the Kedong Valley, between Nairobi and the Great Lake. Mr. Greswolde Williams was accustomed to go there for big game shooting, accompanied by his son, who was an excellent shot and has brought down several lions.

Since January last, year Mr. Greswolde Williams, who was accompanied by his wife, son, and three daughters, has acted as a transport officer with the British East African force, and his son was given a commission in the King's African Rifles in May last. The deceased, who was educated at Eton, was, it is understood, killed in a big engagement with the German forces on August 2.

Lieut. FRANCIS HUMPHREY JOHN GRESWOLDE-WILLTAMS, King's African Rifles (killed), born on August 8, 1899, and was the only son and heir of Mr Francis Greswoldle-Williams of Bredenbury Court, Herefordshire. He had many Scottish relatives, his mother being Anna Louisa, second daughter of Colin Ross of Gruinards, Ross-shire, and grand-daughter of the late Horatio Ross of Rossie Castle, Forfarshire.
