A wonderful old photograph/card (Many thanks to Garston Phillips) showing the Talbot Hotel. To the right is the opening to the driveway down to Ankerdine farm, to the left of this and adjacent to the Talbot you can see the old petrol pump and opposite this you can see the old AA box.

On the right of the photo you can see Knightwick Post Office where I was born. There was a Telegraph Office here to begin with and then later the exchange for all local telephone calls was inside the Post Office and you can see the poles that carried the wires for this in this photo. My grandad did the telegraphs and later my mum worked the telephone exchange.

Later the exchange moved to a small building above the Church (this was replaced with a larger one behind the school). The small exchange above the Church became the Village Hall and has now been sold as a dwelling.

In 1911 Census:-

Gwendoline Riddell - Daughter [age 19] Single - b. Alfrick, Worcestershire.

James' wife and another of their children were not on the census and were elsewhere when it was taken.
