The Chapel at Knightwick today.

Since writing the above I find that a new church is about to be erected for the united accommodation of both Knightwick and Dodenham. The old church at the former place is to be converted into a mortuary chapel, as there will be no burials at the new church, and Dodenham chapel will probably be altogether removed. The site of the new edifice - for which the ground has been given by Mr. Freeman, of Gaines - is at the base of the hill near the inn, close by the road which there branches off for Bewdley. A grant of £100 has been made by the Worcester Diocesan Society for the purpose; and Mr. F. E. Williams, who owns considerable property in the neighbourhood, is also a liberal subscriber to the work. Mr. Perkins, of Worcester, is the architect engaged. The building will consist of a nave and large chancel, a bell turret and spire, sixty feet high from the ground, at the west end, a stone porch on the north side of the nave, and a vestry on the north aide, between nave and chancel. Mr. Perkins has chosen the Early Decorated style, of which his present production will be a very neat specimen; and -the stone for the building is to be got from Ankerdine Hill and Brinstay Common, localities which produce a good weather-stone or grit: and, with free- stone dressings, will be at once secured not only a substantial but a chaste and elegant building, situate, too, in one of the most picturesque spots in the county.
