James Grubham and his wife Emily (Mason) Grubham.

This photograph shows my Great Uncle Jim and Great Aunt Emily in their later years. Most likely this photograph was taken in the 1950's. I can just remember them both, they lived at Gold Hill for all the years that I knew them. [colourised from an original black and white photo]

On the left is an intersting cutting from the Evening News on the
26th March, 1960.

James Grubham,
Born: 28th February, 1881.
Died 27th December, 1958.
Gold Hill, Doddenham, Worcestershire.

Emily (Mason) Grubham,
Born: 20th August, 1885.
Died 4th February, 1960.
Gold Hill, Doddenham, Worcestershire.

As you can see Emily died last in !960. It appears from the sales that Uncle Jim not only owned Gold Hill where he and Aunty Emily lived, but that he owned the Laurels too, where his Father, Mother and all his siblings, and himself lived in their early years.

As can be seen below his Father died in 1934, and perhaps as eldest son the Laurels may have been left to him in his Father's will.

Philip Grubham

Eliza (Berry) Grubham

Henry Grubham was my great uncle too, I always called him Uncle Harry. He was a truly lovely man, I used to see him and my Aunt Alice very often, but not so much Uncle Jim and Aunt Emily.

Worcester Evening News - Tuesday, 10th May, 1960.

I imagine in the will above that it included the sales of both these houses, with the money willed by their aunt Emily to both her nephew (my Uncle Frank) and niece, (my Mother).
