Jane Poole was the wife of Frank Poole, Mayor of this City 1985–86. Jane died on Sunday 16th, October, 2011; aged 82.
While they were Mayor and Mayoress they lunched with the Queen when she visited Worcester.
As Mayoress Jane supported her husband admirably in his civic duties and was both well-known and well-liked.
When Mr and Mrs Poole, of Drake Avenue, Dines Green, Worcester, celebrated 50 years of marriage in March 2003 they revealed that they had met when his brother married her cousin on St Patrick's Day in 1951. They lived in Smethwick, Birmingham, for four years before moving to Worcester in 1957. Mr Poole, a BT engineer, transferred to the area with his job.
Mrs Poole's funeral took place on Thursday, 27th October, 2011. The service was held at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, St John's [where the couple renewed their vows in 1960] and it was followed by cremation at Worcester Crematorium in Astwood Road.
