Talbot Hotel, Knightwick, 1910.

The Talbot Hotel, Knightwick, 1910 (Many thanks to Major [Retd] Janet Brodie-Murphy).

I love this photo as it clearly shows the picnic area at the top of Ankerdine Hill, people came from far and wide to picnic there, on what has always been called the 'knob'. It appears that in those days the trees were kept low to allow for the magnificent views that could be taken in from that vantage point.

Here the Talbot still has the topiary, with the porch way, that is attached to the front of the Hotel.

Everything is clean and tidy, with no plastic, or anything else that inconsiderate humans foul our land with, is marring this wonderful idyllic photograph/postcard.
