Charles Robinson married Gladys Clarinda Watkins in 1909 at Broadwas Church.

THEIR DIAMOND DAY - 1969

SIXTY YEARS ago two young people were married at Broadwas and yesterday they celebrated their diamond anniversary.

  They are Mr. Charles Robinson and his wife, Gladys, of the Flying Horse Farm, Knightwick.
  Mr. Robinson, aged 82, was born in Worcester - at his home in The Shambles where his father, Mr. Harry Robinson was licensee of the Butchers Arms - and educated at Lyonshall, Herefordshire.
   After his schooling he went to work in the gardens of Broadwas Court where he stayed until the beginning of the First World War, during which he served in the Royal Field Artillery in France for three years.
  Mrs. Robinson, aged 84, was born in - Birmingham, but Moved to Broadwas with her family when she was seven.
  The couple were married at Broadwas parish church on April 14, 1909. by the late Rev. P. Higgins.

GROCERY SHOP

  They set up home in Broadwas, and while Mr. Robinson worked at Broadwas Court, Mrs. Robinson was busy looking after a grocery shop.
  After the war they moved to their present address in Knightwick where they now live with their son, Gerwyn, and his family, when Mr. Robinson joined Mrs. Robinson's father, Mr. George Watkins, in business in the building trade. He later took over the business when Mr. Watkins died in 1926 and retired in 1957.       
  Mr. Robinson was a keen cricketer, playing for Wichenford and Whitbourne, and is a strong supporter of the county. For 30 years he was a churchwarden at Knightwick parish church.         
  He is the only survivor of a family of nine and his younger brother, Horace, was a former editor of the "Evening News." Mrs. Robinson who is an enthusiastic gardener, is also the organiser of the Poppy Fund for Knightwick and, Broadwas - a post she has held since 1952.
  The couple have one grand-daughter, Monica.

Charles was born, 27th March, 1887 and died December qtr., 1972.
Gladys was born 16th July, 1884 and died, March qtr., 1974.

Their son Gerwyn Watkins Robinson was born, 12th February, 1910 and died 1988.
Gerwyn married Phylilis H. W. Harris, March qtr., 1931, in Worcester.

They had a daughter Monica J. Robinson, in 1933.

Funeral of Mrs. H. W. Robinson

The death occurred Monday, 14th July, 1958, at Knightwick, of Mrs. Phyllis H. W. Robinson, wife of Mr. Gerwyn W. Robinson. She was the elder daughter of the late Mr. A. Harris, stationmaster at Suckley and of Mrs. Harris now residing at Hainsford, Bromyard. She was well known and highly respected in the Knightwick and Bromyard districts. For the last fifteen years she had lived at Hyde Farm, Avenbury.
The funeral was held at Bromyard parish Church, the Rev. Oliver Davies, Rector of Knightwick and Broadwas officiating.
The family mourners were:- Mr. G. Robinson, Mis M. Robinson, Mr. C. Robinson, (father-in-law). Mr. and Mrs. R. Jones (sister and brother-in-law), Miss N. Jones (niece), Mr. G. Harris (uncle), Mr. G. Former coaching inn, now house and shop. C17, partly remodelled early C19 with later additions to rear. Timber-framed, brick infill, with some brick replacement walling and refacing; stone rubble plinth to shop; tiled roofs. 3 by main range with 2 bay intersecting cross-wing with large external stack and outshut at east gable end. Main elevation 2 storeys; refaced in brick in early C19; main part has 2 ground floor casements with cambered heads, 2 first floor glazing bar sashes, and a part-glazed C19 door with cambered head adjacent to cross-wing; cross-wing has ground floor 16-pane sash and first floor 4-pane sash, both with cambered heads. Brick chimney stack to left of main range ridge and external stack to rear east elevation of cross-wing. East wing: 2 structural bays, single storey and garret; ground floor casement; central planked door.

Timber-framed, brick infill, sandstone rubble plinth, tiled roof. 2 structural bays with C19 rear outshut over-lapping with the rear elevation of The Flying Horse (qv). Planked door in west gabled to hayloft; gabled hoist door to hayloft in west bay of rear elevation. Interior has raking strut truss. Included for group value.
