Family history

This postcard was sent to Charles Gwynn and his wife Ellen (Homer) Gwynn, from his sister.
You can see that she sent it from Stoney-Ley, which is in Broadwas, where he was born.



Charles Gwynn was born in 1892, in Broadwas, Worcestershire, England
His father, Allen, was 29 and his mother, Eliza, was 31.
In 1911 Charles Gwynn was working as a “Waggoner on Farm”, and boarding with 
Arthur James Cooper, who was also a “Waggoner on Farm” of Weston Hill, Broadwas.
He married Ellen Homer on August 1, 1914, in Reddall Hill Old Hill, Cradley Heath.
They lived at, 41 Providence St, Cradley Heath.
They had one child during their marriage.
He died as a young father on August 31, 1918, in France at the age of 26.
The record shows he died of Phthisis, a pulmonary tuberculosis or a similar progressive wasting disease.
