A Tiny Worcestershire parish has been busy tidying up its church-yard to commemorate two anniversaries.

Celebratory services have been held in the little chapel which marks its first centenary this week too.

Leader of the clean up campaign, which has involved churchgoers and the Knightsford Bridge guide company, is organist Miss Mary Walker, who has accompanied hymns at the chapel for many years.

The chapel was built to replace the old dilapidated Norman church which formerly stood in the village. The local squire John Francis Greswolde Williams paid for the building to be erected.

Inside the chapel are two interesting memorial tablets to Grace and Dorothy Lane. The misses lane were cousins of Lady Jane Lane, of Bentley Manor, who accompanied King Charles II on his flight from the Battle of Worcester.

David Salt was the Rector at Broadwas from 1972 to 1982, when he left he moved to Redditch.

It is with sadness that we announce the sudden and
unexpected death of Revd Canon David Salt on 19th May, 2022.,
aged 85 years. David will be greatly missed and lovingly
remembered by his family, friends and colleagues.
David served as the Vicar of St. Stephen's in Redditch Town
Centre for 20 years up until his retirement in 2002 and was
much loved by everyone. A service of thanksgiving to celebrate
David's life will be held at St Stephen's Church, Redditch
on 7th July at 2pm.
