Suckley Station.

On the left and left of photo is Alfred Harris the Suckley Railway, Station Master; and to his right is his son-in-law Rowland Ernest Jones, Suckley Railway, Signalman.

Alfred Harris, came to Suckley as Station Master after Thomas Davies in about 1927, and retired from there in 1948. His son-in-law Rowland Jones came as a signal man in 1938, after working at Leigh signal box. His previous employment had been at Steens Bridge and Rowden Mill, as a relief porter. Rowland's wife Freda Jones, also worked at the Suckley signal box, from 1942 to 1943.

Sarah Jane Harris [nee Williams] - b. 4th February 1883 - UDD
Rowland Ernest Jones - b. 24th March 1911 - Occupation, Railway Porter, transfered as Signalman.
Freda Nellie Williams Jones - b. 11th November, 1909 - UDD

Rowland and Freda had married in 1939 prior to the above register.

Rowland joined the GWR on the 18th October 1937, Staff no. 92057.

The same page had my dad, John Edward Holland on it, as joining the GWR on the 1st November 1937, Staff no. 92060.

Alfred and Sarah Harris also had another daughter, Phyllis Hilda Williams Harris b. 6th August 1908 in Sutton, St. Nicholas, Herefordshire. Phyllis married Gerwyn Watkins Robinson in the 1st qtr., 1931, reg, district, Worcester. Phyllis died 14th July 1958 and Gerwyn died 16th October 1988 [both at Knightwick] They lived at the Flying Horse and had a daughter Monica Jeanne Robinson, born 7th May 1933, at Suckley Station. Monica married Rodney Sydney Loft, 4th October 1989, in Clark, Nevada, America. Monica died 20th October 2009, at Queen Elizabeth's Hospital, Kings Lyn, Norfolk.
