William Arthur Barry and Christabel Hood married at Broadwas Church, on May 5th 1940. Here the family are all outside the Royal Oak Inn at Broadwas, having their photo taken. Chris's mother (Eleanor Jane Hood) is sat next to her. (Eleanor's husband Samuel Arthur Hood, died in May 1934, aged 67) Sam was the Licenced Victualler of the Royal Oak and Eleanor took over as Inn Keeper when he died. Next to Eleanor is another of her daughters, Edna May (Hood) Ganderton, her husband Thomas Leonard Ganderton and their two children Mary and Peter Ganderton. Tom and Edna married at Broadwas Church, on April 6th 1936. They all lived next to door to Tom's brother Sydney Ganderton and wife Mabel Lloyd (Hayward) Ganderton, (my mother's first cousin). Sitting besides Bill Barry is his mother and his father, Robert James Barry, next is the Rector, James Rothwell Burns and his wife Margaret Burns. James was Rector at the wedding and was Rector of the Parish from 1928 to 1944, he died on the 22nd March 1950; aged 76. At the back either side of the soldier are my uncle Philip Rowland Jones and his fiancee, Lillian Anne Baylis (They married at Crowneast Church Worcestershire. On the Saturday, 24th August 1940). They were friends of one side of the married family and this photo came from my aunty Lillian (Lillian lived to 100 years of age). Eleanor had two other daughters, Dorothy Hood married Reginald Thomas Wesley Bennett at Broadwas Church on March 3rd 1935. and the eldest daughter, Grace Eileen Hood, married Walter Maddock, in October qtr. 1914, in Tamworth Staffordshire. They may well all be in this photo.
